The words “Holism” and “Holistic” are derived from the Greek word “Holos” meaning “Whole”.
Holistic Health considers the health of body, mind and beyond. It is your overall state of wellness on all levels of your being: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. All the levels of your being need to be taken into consideration and seen as a “whole”.
It implies the health of the whole.
In any organism, health is the ability to efficiently respond to challenges (stressors) and effectively restore and sustain a “state of balance” known as homeostasis.
Illness is merely the absence of health.
All organisms, from the simplest to the most complex, reside on a spectrum between 100% health and 0% health.
